Hotel Review: Kensho, Mykonos

Prior to my trip to Mykonos, I was really excited about what to expect. The plain sight of the photos of the hotel instantly made my heart beat faster. I was bound to have one of the most beautiful vacation in a long time!

The shuttle service from the airport and all the way to Mykonos down town is operated all night and I found it to be a really original idea. From the very moment I had arrived at the hotel, I instantly fell in love with it. Everything seemed perfect and very modern. Greece is known for its bright buildings anyway, but the first impression of the Kensho Boutique Hotel left me speechless, because it was too beautiful and stylish … The perfect location near the beach, the very attentive staff and the lovely rooms only confirmed my excellent first impression. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable (with private whirlpool, Hermes products and incredible view). The rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished with attention to the detail.

The public areas are very trendy and modern, as well. The hotel’s own spa area offers a nice inviting pool and a gym. I highly recommend you to watch the sunset with a delicious cocktail from the bar. When I first came to enjoy breakfast the morning after my arrival, I felt like I’m in paradise: Honestly, it was the best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel. The selection is huge, from fresh fruit Crème brûlée and home-made chocolates up to a chef, who prepares the eggs in 10 different variations. In general, the food was fantastic and offered in a broad variety.

Last week I received an e-mail from Mykonos telling me that the Kensho Hotel has been awarded as the best boutique hotel worldwide. Congratulations – well deserved !!!

PROS & THINGS I LIKE:
– Incredibly diverse and great breakfast
– The whole complex is perfection down to the most minute detail
– Friendly staff from the drivers to the managers
– The spa area is excellent, I had one of the best massages I have ever received. But no matter what kind of treatment you decide to book, everything is above average and comprehensive. Conclusion: Top hotel with excellent food and very friendly staff.
CONS & THINGS TO KNOW:
– The deck chairs at the pool area are unfortunately very limited. Despite being there outside the peak season, we definitely had problems getting hold of a place.
